No need for a block guard. If you want todo something beneficial resleeve. If you dont have the money spend the money on a good bore and hone. With forged pistons, forged rods, management (AEM EMS, Hondata, Neptune, Crome, Uberdata), a good tune, larger injectors, etc. Your setup will be good for 350whp. After that it's hard to get more HP with a stock or close to stock LS head without a "large" turbocharger.

well I dont want to push this engine to its limits. I need it to be daily driven and reliable (for the most part). I plan to bore and hohn it and then do the block guard just for a little added help. The turbo ill prob go to you alpha (high recomendations from julian) to get one. ill prob. use chrome to tune since I dont have the money for the AEM

Trust me. As long as you have a good tuner (Mtber for Crome) you dont need a block guard. I have always gone to Engine Lab of Tampa for my machine work. Except for one time I had Golden Eagle Mfg in California do it but they gave me a great price due to me running their sleeves. I can't remember what they charged me each time

lol I kind of want to build it myself. Its somthing I have wanted to do for a long time and its a huge reason why I am switching from the mustang. I know its not a full build, but for an 18 year old full time college student, its hard to get teh cash to build a full motor. Would a block guard help at all? I mean, 350 is my goal but if I have knowledgable people or the tuner telling me my car can safely do more, I would be more then happy to put down more.
