well i got serious and bought a block the other day. Its a bare ls with the crank all in decent shape.. My plans are to just redo all bearings and seals ect.. then pistons, rods and a block guard. More then likely a stock ls head, but POSSIBLY a gsr or b16 head. I plan to turbo it, which i know is going to be the expencive part. But what do you guys think of this set up? any advice for me? CMS is doing the work i cant do so no worries with tthat stuff. also, what do you think this set up is good for (safely)?

 

if your going to build build the head also if your plaing on keeping the car for a while make it right

because the parents are buying the car and i have to pay for the motor stuff, they will only give me 5 grand so ill have to find 2 more grand, which i dont have.

 

im sure ill do the head eventually, but with the hp im figureing I dont think the flow will be to restrictive and i eventually wanna do another motor after this one that will be sleeved and real built, but that is way down the road.

yeah 5 grand for the car from the parents, motor is on me, so its going to be a slow but steady process. So far I have a block and crank, block guard this weekend, then ill prob buy the new bearings and all of that next week

 

ide spend like 2g on the car, and 3g on the engine. then use whatever money you have for whatever else.


also, ide go with lsvtec/turbo. they can put down some crazy numbers for pretty cheap.(and they're reliable)

 

my parents are not paticularly for me building a motor, they feel that a mustang is a way safter car then a civic or teg and they thikn my car is fast enough right now (the mustang) there letting me do the build, but they more then likely will not help with money. So therfore 3 ona car and 2 on a motor is out of the question.. I want a clean car to, not a pos, doenst have to run good, just get me around for a little while.. I mainly want a clean body

 

thats about right you can build a all new with forged parts lsvtec for 2G's and still have that 3K for a nice ass shell and if you can shop around the motor will cost less to give you more for the shell
