Lack of knowledge and research. Also the trendy "JDM coolness" of having a B Series swap.

Then we should be see the same thing with the F-series then. I know that it has a whole lot of power that not to many people are able to get to. But is the F-series going to be as big as the B then

Both D and F Series, SOHC motors are superior to DOHC motors in MANY ways.

Has any of the information you've ever read explained why two cams would be better than one? Why would you want two cams to do the same thing one cam can do? I'll give you a few concepts to get you started.

-SOHC motors have less rotational mass and less frictional losses.
-Vavle angles allow for more radical camshaft profiles.
-The F Series in particular has higher and superior port angles to the B and H Series.
-Spark plug placement is better.
-Less parts and cheaper parts.
-SOHC engine is much lighter overall.

The only advantage to a DOHC is the ability to tune in overlap with seperate cam gears, which if you have the correct camshaft grind to begin with in the SOHC, you don't need to worry about it.

Then why do most purest still go with the DOHC over the SOHC. And i do see your point with the wight and mass and over all wight.
Could it also be that most people just want to beable to tune there ride to the speces that they want.

See i was thinging the same thing. Most of the cars making a lot of power are DOHC. From the SUPRA to the SKYLINE to the SYLIVA. they all have DOHC. and let me not forget the NSX. This is a honda forum.

Can you tell me from an engineering or mechanical standpoint why you think a DOHC engine has the ability of making more horsepower? DOHC were originally designed because it was the easiest, and at time only way to have 4 valves per cylinder. Now as we all know, SOHC engines can come with 4 valves per cylinder.

So if SOHC engines can have 4 valves per cylinder, why would Honda choose DOHC for their high end motors? They did it because DOHC engines have the ability to have VTEC on both the intake and exhaust. In drag racing, VTEC isn't really needed since you will never see the low cam, a high lift non-VTEC cam would be just as good for drag racing. Honda designed their cars to be smoothly daily driven, not drag raced.

Also if DOHC engines have the ability of making more horsepower, why are the most powerful cars in the world still pushrod top fuel dragsters? I'm sure with the kind of budgets those teams have they would've found a DOHC V8 to use in it's place, if it were any better.
