You're on the stock LS bottom end? There's no way your compression is that high with a stock bottom end.

Um, ls/vtec probably using other high compression pistons such as JDM itrs etc..

You can rev to 8500 rpms without problems with your ls bottom end, just as long as you have arp rod bolts

The rod to stroke ratio isnt that much longer then a GSR/ITRs, its not going to make it dangerous to shift at 8500 rpms

You are building an ls/vtec with factory ls rod bolts....?

All its going to take is a over revving insident to strech your factory ls rod bolts & spin a bearing...

You may get lucky & be able to get away with factory ls rod bolts, but I do NOT recommend it.

Arp rod bolts are a pain in the ass to have installed properly (take your rods to a machnist wich has done them or has a rod bolt streching tool as the arp rod bolt instructions instruct you to do so etc..)

Arp head studs are not gonna do shit for ya except allow you to re-use them if you ever have to take your head off... (they supposedly do not strech)

That's what i was getting at, but i assumed he would have strengthened the bottom end, not just thrown some pistons in it. . .

You do not want to install arp rod bolts while the rods are in the motor, hence you are going ot have to dissassemble the motor in order to have a machiniest install the rod bolts.

Who is building your motor ?

Any experienced builder would have told you & installed arp rod bolts for you right from the get go when using ls rods....

Assume the worst :-/

There is nothing wrong with building an ls/vtec using an ls crank/rod setup. You just can't rely on the OEM rod bolts.
