Sohc Turbo or Dohc N/A???
Finally found the Dyno sheet. 135 WHP @ 6 psi. Not 8 psi as I thought. What really f/u the capabilities of the setup was my wish to run the A/C with VTEC engaged. That combo causes serious detonation.
As this is still my daily driver, I'll probably do 2 mappings for the Emanage. One with & one w/o A/C.
But 1st I've got to get a Fluidyne radiator.

SOHC power is a long, costly, unloved path. been there...done that. MY SOHC turbo daily driver just recently died. and when i said DIED, i mean died.
#2 cylinder sleeve declared its emancipation and in the process threw the entire engine assembly into chaos.
YES this was tuned using standalone and NO it wasn't detonating.
happened without any prior warning during acceleration onto the interstate.
i am going DOHC

I don't believe that was power related. You can see the compression ring apears to be seperated from the ringlands, the area where the crack was has been heated and carbon is all around the first crack. There are a couple small chips in the cylinder wall that I can see too. It may have had a nice microcrack in it and you never knew it... that crack superheating and cooling could've caused the sleeve to fail.
well for all it is worth, this motor had been through a few different configurations. A6 block with SRP pistons and eagle rods, Y8 head (compression computed to 10.3-1). originally was supercharged (JRSC) with 25 shot of NOS. That setup dynoed @200hp 171TRQ. (important to remember that this is sohc...redlined at 7200). later converted to turbo (small GReddy) and dynoed at 181HP with 11psi(along with ignition miss). after fixing ignition situation, i upped boost to 13-14 psi. this was daily driven. engine put together by me over 14-15 months ago and has tolerated quite alot from me. the failure of this engine was sudden and unexpected with no advance warning, no overheating, no miss, nothing. luckily i have other transport available so not in a really big hurry to rush to next setup.

That sounds like a mean ass sohc, but i dont understand why you whent from the supercharger to the turbo? did you do it just to get something different? i like the numbers for a sohc, thats nice to be daily driven... good luck with the next setup. -Ben
