Unhappy 4L60E problems

Has anyone had problems with the 4L60E tranny?

I've rebuilt my tranny several times and keep on snapping 2nd band clutch..

I'm using the best stuff available, but keep on snapping the bands. Has anyone had this problem before?

I know I'm not pushing that much power but geeze, its starting to get annoying to constantly rebuild it. I know my line pressure is close to stock setting, so I'm clueless.

help

only problem I've had with mine is that now when I'm in high gear and mash the throttle, the fucking thing won't downshift half the time and misses the shift, or if it does downshift it goes in way too hard....I think it's a problem with a vacuum line (I hope) or else it may be time for a rebuild....from what I gather though the 4L60E's lifespan gets a little questionable anyways after 100,000 miles

after 100K GM rates those trannys to be capable of reliably handle no more than 300hp and TQ.

stop rebuliding and buy a TH350/400 probably be better off anyways.

Gotta say in my experience in rebuilding these tranny`s I have not seen this problem yet! But there has to be a reason for it? what brand are you using and who did the work?

- who is doing your rebuild

- what is the setup inside the tranny?

- what is your motor set up

my first one broke 3 times (first 2 times due to band failure), and my 2nd one slips 2-3 and 3-4. i'd like to know what parts/bands you used and where you got them too

You need to talk to Mark Shakespear he built my tranny in my 96 vette (which was totally destroyed i have no clue how it ran)... now lookin at 900whp was 385whp he used all kevlar bands and clutches for like $3000 with a 1 year warranty, and ask about pat's 96 tranny and car its gutted.. no motor, no trans, no rearend its all on the floor.
his shop is over by sunshine speedway i want to say its like 131 n automobile in sum yellow buildings.
