Is there such thing as a FWD Sports Car?
FWD being a Sports car is WRONG
You guys argue like it opinion...IT IS NOT! IT IS A CLASSIFICATION of car, just like Candy paint CAN'T be flat and flat can't be Candy, they are both paint, but they are NOT the same.

The answer is no, but there's no use in saying so, because TR users are still going to insist that their Saturn 4-door handed down from their mom was designed by GM Performance to be modified and tracked because it has a DOHC motor and a little spoiler on the back.
I am the member that angela is talking about. She called me close minded for saying this, I guess im not.
Angela, would you like to call all of these other people that don't agree with you close minded or do you want to admit that you are ignorant ?

Integra/Civic/Eclipse/GTi are sport compact cars. Remember that magazine Sport Compact Car? It was catering to these fun, mostly FF cars.
Sports cars are things like Lotus Elise/Exige/NSX/most Porsches, etc. They are rear-wheel drive and are "driver's cars," that is sporty driving is the main goal, not comfort or luxury or even good looks.

Its not me being ignorant. Everyone in this thread gave a legit reason why they do or do not agree with the topic....you didn't. Your answer was just "Fwd = Not A Sports Car". At least have the knowledge and the balls to back your shit up. This whole thing stems from your animosity towards me.
I still don't understand why a car MUST be rear wheel drive to be even considered a sporty automobile.

Feeling a bit slow here, but...
Just realized the OP is trying to justify her Eclipse as a sports car, likely under the guise of "Girl Power" that girls like to assert when they do something "manly," such as watching football, installing software, or in this case, changing gears.
No, no way in hell your Eclipse is a sports car. Manual gearbox and a hatchback describes about 75% of Europe's cars, and yes, your stance is a bit ignorant with this in mind. In America, where automatics are most common, a manual seems "sporty," when in reality, the manual transmission is - by name, no less - the standard, and an automatic is a luxury that (stereotypically lazy) Americans have taken for granted. Manuals bring less complexity to the table, as well as higher mechanical efficiency. This results in cheaper initial and maintenance costs, as well as better gas mileage, how sporty is that?
As for the hatchback: guess what, it makes it easier to load groceries.
Guess what? My Toyota Corolla is a 5spd hatchback. Do you want to tell me that the best-selling car of all time, and the definitive economy car, is a sports car? Do you want to tell me that I have 70HP because the car that I bought from an old man that had trouble walking was meant to perform?

There are plenty of FF cars that are sporty, but none that are "sports cars." Just like there are no two-door cars that are sedans. It's a classification thing, not an indicator of performance/potential.

How is me asking a question being ignorant? And when in this thread did I mention my car? I'm not trying to be all "girl power" as you say. I was just asking an interesting question to get everyones input. You didn't have to be such an ass.
John said it best, who cares what you label your car as...if you like it and it makes you happy, that's all you need
But to answer the question, a sports car is a 2 door, 2 seat, RWD car.

my Civic is labeled as a sports car to insurance. I litterally laughed and asked if it was a joke. IMO ITR and CTR are deffinately FWD sports cars. The DC2 ITR is still said to be the best FWD car ever put into production as far as performance.
