Is there such thing as a FWD Sports Car?
This question comes from a 3 page argument from the SPM thread on if a FWD car can be considered a "sports car"
The discussion came about when a fellow member on the board made a comment that a car that is FWD (and stock) cannot be classified a sport car.
I personally think if it has two doors, 5 speed and/or a hatch, it can be.
So with that said, what do you guys think? I think there are plenty of makes and models, FWD, AWD and RWD that can be considered Sports cars.
Bonus Question: Are there any Hondas that are sports cars?

you drive a fwd sports car. although the gs is slow as hell. the gt is pretty quick.
insurance companies classify most two door coupes as sports cars anyways.
i wouldnt go as far to call an ef, eg, ek, ae86, sentra, etc....... sports cars though. theyre economy cars that people make fast.

pretty much what was said above a sports car is a 2 door, 2 seater, rwd car. I dont even think hatchbacks apply though

i think ppl get too hung up on labels. Who needs that justification of a label? If you like it and the car does what you want it to do, be happy.
That being said, the classic definition of a sports car has always been 2 door, rear drive. I guess you could maybe let awd in there, but its still powering the rear wheels

As for a fwd car being a sports car... im thinking no, no matter how fast i make my vw its still a 4 door grocery gitter.

You guys are thinking of "high end sports cars" even then not all those cars are "RWD and 5spd", The term "sports car" should be used more loosely now with the technology they use in the engines and drivetrain.
"Sports Cars" is fitting lower end cars made for spirited driving with all around performance in mind.
The Car Manufactures have so many types of cars out now it doesnt really matter..
also the dude that said this about hondas hit it.
S2000 = Roadster
NSX = Sports Car
Integra = Compact Sports car
Civic = Econo car (With sometimes race "Inspired" engines)
That is all from a stock point of view.
although integras and civics share the same suspension/engines?
You could argue this sports car debate all day.
