^ Yes that is your opinion, but facts are facts and FWD cars are NOT sports cars!!!

just like SUV's are NOT sedan....they have four doors and drive on the streets but they AREN'T sedans...

Opinion and Fact 2 TOTALLY different things...

Angela, ignorance came to mind because you said you "personally think" a 5 speed hatchback has enough criteria to be called a sports car. Besides the fact that these are more definitive criteria for an economy car, your "personal thoughts" aren't enough to overturn a widely standardized criterion for sports cars.

You then went on to laugh at the notion of a Honda being a sports car, as if the brand had anything to do with it. Again, the word, 'ignorance' reverberates here.

I don't know what the SPM thread is, but if this discussion already went on for three pages, what more answer do you need?

The sportiest economy car is still an economy car... Take your basic Elise for a counter example; 140HP nets some pathetic engine performance, and it's one of the slowest sports cars of the past 20 years, but it's still a sports car.

Troux, You had no right to include and insult my gender. What gender I am doesn't matter. Everyone else in this thread voiced their opinion...so why is it that mine is the only one that is "ignorant"? And please don't tell me its because I am a female. I never once mentioned myself or my car in this thread. So with that said, your rude comment was extremely unnecessary.

What does gender have anything to do with it? It was a question that was brought up in the meet thread, and the discussion has been going on for several pages. Angela posted it here to get more opinions on it.

Sports car Definition | Definition of Sports car at Dictionary.com
sports car–noun a small, high-powered automobile with long, low lines, usually seating two persons.
sports car
n. An automobile equipped for racing, especially an aerodynamically shaped one-passenger or two-passenger vehicle having a low center of gravity and steering and suspension designed for precise control at high speeds.
By definition, it does not classify whether it is FWD or RWD.

If your car is designed with the intentions of giving you high performance, speed, and better handling, it can be considered a sports car.
