There is a bigger story here though;
This is the beginning of the end people. Many of you are too young to remember the late 70's/early 80's. But history is repeating itself.

We were just in the midst of a new horsepower war. A new resurgance in sporting cars.
But now, it seems like the end of that era is upon us. Be ready for a long run of boring econo-boxes. Because that's what car makers will think that we all want.
I'm afraid the "sportscar" is heading for another long term hiatus, as people get their panties in a bunch about gas prices and are whinning for more practical transport.
This dosnt affect me as much since I dont plan on owning a new car anytime soon, and anything I would like to own will be used.

I've had similar thoughts for the last two years though. I've been waiting for the wave to crest and then fall on us and it seems to be getting to that point rather quickly now. I'll just wait it out.

Yeah, the same thing IS happening again, for pretty much the same reasons too! Once again, California can be blamed--and once again we have two different emissions standards. 49 state and California state. I only hope it wont take another 30 years to have cool cars like this..I mean hey, the 80s and early 90s had some great cars too.

If nothing else, we can wait around until the myriad of twin turbo BMWs and Fords being made today are more affordable

Is area we are in or in the US?

I've always liked the s2000. The styling was tasteful and the body lines were nice, and it was an all around nice car, I just never thought it made enough power. And I think the reason why they dont sell too many of them is because of the price. As much as I like them they are close to 40K brand new and still are pretty expensive used with the AP1 around 10k and the AP2 around 20k.
