the price diffrence between 1.6 and 1.8 miatas isnt a big beal, couple hundred bucks if that.

Looks like Miata's are the new fad......I've been noticing over the past few months....people are using them more as a drift car and others just because its something thats rwd. To me its just a Miata nothing too special about it...but to each their own

 

I'd say go with 2gen if cost is no issue, if it is go with the 1st gen.

yea i hate driving on the highway with the miata... you gotta go like 55 to be ok! i hated it when i had mine, driving from brandon to tampa twice a day 5 days a week, i had to drive in the slow lane...

 

ok im not a fan of puttin a v8 in everything in fact i hate when people give up on there motors and put a chevy in whatever. that being said that would be crazy to drive that little car with a v8!!!! but whats wrong with the little 1.8 bp that it comes with? reading this thread makes me want get one even more. if i was going to put a v8 in it though id put a ford in it just because mazda 20%owned by ford just keeping it in the family

yea there pretty awesome cars, differently great for the price.

i dont think you have to swap a miata to have fun, there fun stock, and with a little extra cash you can have even more fun, espically if your into auto x.

like someone stated, the 1st gen's are pretty much turbo hungry, with a good set up you'll be set.


if i got one i would etheir swap for a 13b, sorry i love them... i would love a chevy 350 big block, or maybe the ford 5.0, but i rather have the 13b, to help keep the weight in the front close to stock.

but i think i would boost the stock 1.6 befor i swapped. Im kinda scared about the rear end now though, lol

 

1st gen, 93 and later, much better motor. Forget the 1.6 liter.
