IMO I would have to say hondas can be a little more reliable. Lighter so they can run a little quicker.
Just my 2 cents.
you freshly built your motor and setup. most people buy the car and just start adding bolt ons. they don't rebuild the motor or tranny, they just start upgrading stuff, thats why things break on ANY car.

i believe that the more you upgrade, the more problems you will have with any car. you add 150-300 hp in any car and you will start to have issues if not done to perfection

DSM can be spent little amount of money to make it quick. However, Hondas are reliable and good on gas. Don't get me wrong, you can make a Honda quick if you spend your money wisely but the chances (finding one that is decently quick) is one of a million.

congrats!
Yep running low 11s all day long lol. We didnt think it would handle it either, but we checked compression after the runs and its still straight across the board. The only thing keeping me from 10s was slicks. I only had 22 inch slicks. so traction sucks!

Well like my earlier post said, I started with boosting the single cam engines. Blew them up like crazy. I decided to make a solid investment into my racing and build something. I didnt think it would last this long. I went a whole season this year running it every friday, plus the other import events we had here.
I agree, if you mod the original motor, shit will blow up. People blow up their cars a lot...why not just build a solid motor. To add to this. I spent about 300 bucks on my LS build. Finding parts and just piecing it together.

Maybe you should do a little research on what year Eclipses have crankwalk?

If you're looking for best bang for your buck, you cannot beat a DSM with a Honda.

If you're trying to compare apples to apples here, it's going to cost you around the same amount of money to fully build the motor, slap a turbo on there, and tune the car.

In the end, it's about putting the power to the ground, and how YOU feel the car looks. So if you're AWD, you already have a significant advantage.

this thread is dumb-but I have to chime in.

anything can be built to be reliable, fast, both.

a lot of DSM'ers just slap shit on their car and call it a day--you do that to ANY car and it will quickly become very unreliable. I've had my car for 3 years and over that time I've put close to 55k miles on it. The biggest repair (outside of maintenance) to date was a water pump.

whoever mentioned crankwalk... read up kid

I've seen some pretty hacked up civics as well.

Do your research, spend your money/time wisely, and whatever you PREFER will end up being fast/reliable/both.

With that being said, I prefer DSMs over civics any day. I think a DSM (2g but 2gb especially) has an exotic kind of look to it when it has the right wheels/stance. IMO the body lines are just plain sexy. The whole car just flows. I really like the fact that you don't see a nice DSM too often

I can appreciate a nice looking civic, but I think they look average--a lot of cars can be thought to resemble a civic one way or another. To me, the nice, potential filled civics ended with the EK. The fact that you see 50 or more on any given day doesn't help either.

sorry for such a long post
