So I drove a cobalt ss today
LOL, I agree with you on one point! I would NEVER pay 35k for a S2k.
I bought mine for 21k with 11k miles and I'm the 2nd owner. The S2k is my dd because I need to get to work every morning without having to worry if my tune is fucked up, did my cam take a shit.. or any random shit that happens with built motors. So what you can beat an s2k? whoop tee do shirlock! You better beat it if you have 20k in mods I would be very dissappointed in your work becaue both my hatch and my prelude used to walk s2k's like they were standing still and I spent less than 5k on those projects. Before you go talking about people and their cars you might want to learn a little bit about them first. I bet you never knew I had 2 other project cars the whole time that were both 10x faster than my s2k you just assumed I was a s2k fan boy. lol.
yea, nice one! Whose the sterotype now?
I only threw the s2k in there as an example because someone posted asking why HOnda/Nissan/Toyota doesnt make a car with a turbo and I delievered an answer... "because THEY (not refferencing to just Honda) can do it all motor!" I see S2k's going for the same price as neons now adays and well you wanted to compare stock cars so you do the math.
So how so do you see it as I was raising a honda flag on this thread? Notice I never once said "Honda > all" but now your gettting on my case for giving people answers to their questions. Obviously some people didnt know.. Tim Tim Tim learned something today and thats what the site is about so you need to chill I know who you are too and I've never had a problem with you so just chill out when people are trying to teach you something. And hey, if you dont like it dont read it.

This thread is about the Cobalt, not going to waste my time comparing apples to oranges.
I was never impressed by the supercharged Cobalt SS. I mean there were some quick ones that came out and put a hurting on some cars but most of them were just plain old slow.
The new ones should be a nice change for GM. A turbocharged four cylinder, as long as it has support from GM with some sort of 'stage' package like Dodge with the SRT-4 then I think it will be a good seller.
I've seen ECOTEC's make real good power, I'm interested in seeing what the '08 model Cobalt SS puts down once people open up the exhaust and get it fresh air, should be interesting.

S2000 dosnt make any where near the advertised power when dyno'd. With the other cars they make almost exactly the advertised power. TQ is higher too.
And the SRT and SS were rated at 220 or so from factory.
Also, the S2000 isnt slow. Its not a 1320 car, but it is quick around a track. Any one who says differntly is off in left field. I took a look the other week and was surprised at how the car was built; its built like a true sports roadster. The crankpully sits behind the front cross member. And its not that heavy, it weighs about the same as my S14.
Anyways I forgot about the MS3, That right now is my favorite FWD car on the market, the cobalt is neat and so is the Si but I think mazda is a bit ahead of the pack at the moment.

zOMG'z Honduh makes 100hp/ltr on their most expensive car!!1 Yay!!1"
there, are you happy? you wanted me to say it didnt you? lulz
You seem to have alot of hatred against s2000's? Comes off like a form of jealousy...
Obvously there is always something else you can buy. Theres thousands of cars in the world its all based on driver prefference cause with the right amount of money you can make anything fast! "i could spend 900 bux on a 240 and 2-3k on a SR swap and be the fastest guy in town"
Sorry I heard that in a movie or something somewhere. lulz
And yes, my eg was stock gsr
lol..
Here it is..
FS: 92 Civic CX hatch w/Built GSR - Honda Forum / Acura Forum - SuperHonda.com
I sold it a few months ago to fund the new project. I put alot of money into that car. I dont care how reliable you say a built motor is if I can afford to not drive it all the time I wont because I CAN DO THAT! 4.5k and it was faster than my 35k dollar beater
Sorry for the off topic posts.

I do like the Cobalt SS in yellow with the low spoiler
I think its rather plain though... and those wheels are horrendous, they don't flow with the car at all.
[off-topic]
I wouldn't have driven that slow ass EG either

I have a good friend with an '07 SS supercharged Cobalt, the Stage II upgrade on the supercharged Cobalts is only about $700, which includes the parts and service.
Which is not bad price for at least a 30hp bump over stock.
He also has the optional oem limited slip and traded someone for a set of 06 Recaro seats.
Inejen intake, DC front strut brace, and sitting on a set Eibach springs- the car has surprised quite a few people in our local NASA autocross group.
I have also driven a Mazdaspeed3, in comparison they are on par for acceleration but the Mazda has the edge on handling and braking.
That said the Cobalt is way cheaper to buy into.
