the other day i was going to tampa at 130 it was actually saturday night and i followed a guy in a gallardo (until he took off) it was like a blueish color (california plates) and he had the top down, it was raining and cold as hell.
but that guy was just cruisin in the rain top down and cold, i like to see people like this that actually use the cars they buy and not have them sit in the garage

i can see someone tracking one before they drive it in teh rain with the top down.

Same thing can be said of the GT-R. I don't know what the new vette will do yet, but since the GT-R BEAT the vette lap record at the N-Ring I will say it is worth every penny of the 70K or so it will cost. This whole thread is about how Nissan is not letting its dealers do markup on the car so no the car will not cost 100K....

C5-R ring a bell?
C6-R?
24 hours of Daytona ring a bell?
Sebring?
LeMans?
The Vette's specialty is FAR from being just straight line performance.. and has been a DOMINANT player in the above series/races...
you might check this site out...
2007 Race Results - Corvette Racing
either way, both cars will be bad ass, both will be out of the majority of our price ranges... both should push the competitors to step it up (hopefully).
pick your poison.

I honestly don't know, does it?
From what limited reading I've done on it, they dropped the GTR LeMans racing to focus on the R390 GT1.. They finished a best of 10th overall and 5th in it's class in the mid 90s.
it's been extremely successful in the Japanese racing circuit without question, I'd like to see it on the world stage a little more.
again, badass car and I hope it causes others to step up if it lives up to the ENORMOUS hype, but I wouldn't brush the Vette off to "straight line domestic junk"...

GT series GTRs are the same, they share pretty much nothing with the street car.
In LeMans the only cars that are similar to the street versions are the ones in the GT2 class. (GT3 rsr and the F430)
anyways I think its ignorant to compare the ZR1 to the GTR, they are in two completly different catigories and everyone knows that. The ZR1 would kill the GTR hands down. Its got the power and the weight to crush anything practically. but the GTR has 4 seats and alot more luxuries and technology into it than the vette. The vette is a classic sports car, less weight and more power = faster then everything else. but just look at the steering wheel, com'on its the same fucking thing as a cobalts. refinment has never been the vettes upside. But you cant say that for the GTR.
Also to call the Z06's suspension better than the GTR is also ignorant. To make a 3800lb car faster than a 3200lb car(zo6) that also has 30 or so more hp they have to be doing something incredible. Because Porsche couldnt do it with the 997 turbo and it has more power and less weight then the GTR.
Anyways, both cars will be amazing in their own right. So stop with the comparing bullshit and be glad companies are making such bad ass cars. because they way i've been reading it isnt going to last.....

for those that didnt actually read the article:
However such a low starting price and a run of only 1500 per year for the U.S., it seems that Nissan’s attempts to prevent gouging will be fairly futile. In Japan recently, a used GT-R sold for $20,000 more than the starting MSRP of a new GT-R
-
Used ones going for 90K?
Yep, no way there's gonna be any markup, god bless those good hearted nissan dealers for finally stepping up for the consumer
Anyone that actually believes there will not be huge markups on this car is kidding themselves
