Not sure if the 3 series comes with a front Torsen, but all X3s and X5 AWDs come with a front Torsen diff. Never spun the wheels on one to find out.
Your best bet may be to build a "cheap" one yourself and dump the leftover money not spent of the "<$50k" in the bank in a separate account or something for when it breaks. Friend of mine back at UCF has a WRX powered 2.5RS, theres Jerry with the yellow Mirage (cant remember how many doors his has but they come in coupe size too), Mig has a DSM/Civic, etc. etc.
