It will cost you anywhere from $1000 - $3000.

DSM lesson # 1
Dont buy a DSM without having 3 spare engines in your garage.

Means for the mother fucking win. Motor is more than likely shot, or in need of a lot of repairs and machine work which will be expensive. If its an option I seriously recommend getting rid of that Eclipse and buying something else. They are all around peices of shit. Otherwise, look around for a used motor or at least shortblock, depending on the degree of damage.

IF it is a thrown rod, you could have a damaged crank and quite possibly scored the cylinder walls.

Basically, the bottom half of the engine needs to be rebuilt, with most likely a good amount of machine work.

Well, I started my car after I got home, and there was no knocking, like there should be, it just shakes really hard like its about to stall or something. Does that mean something else?

Sounds like you threw a rod nasty. Your better off replacing your motor. Take it to Brothers Racing. They deal mostly with Mitsubishi's.

Oh and if you have a hole in your oil pan, DONT start your car.

do not start it again...by doing that you are making a bigger bill for your self.

you threw a rod..probley do to cap failure or you could have snapped a crank.more then likely its a rod.

you need a new short block that is only if you did not smash the combustion chambers on the head.

to keep your current engine..
crank will more then likely have to be turned.
new rod or rods.
block will need to bored over not sure on how much untill you tear the engine apart and inspect it.
new pistons will have to be orderd
new pan
rebuild kit
your looking at a grand for sure atleast.

which you could get a complete used engine for that much but your engine will be brand new.
