I say buy a new motor, you can find them for under a grand. I wouldn't spend 3k on a 1996 eclipse motor, but....do as you wish I suppose.

I know that a brand new block (Just the block) is $1300. Im not that good with cars yet, to know what all I have to have after that. If it wasnt too expensive, I would do that. I just dont want a used engine.

I have owned a few eclipses. My dad is an ASE cert. mitsu mechanic, and he worked at the mitsu dealer here for a VERY long time. So is my boyfriend, who also works at a mitsu dealer now. I'm sure some of these other people are certified mechanics too. It is just not a very good idea to spend 3k on rebuilding a motor on a car that isn't worth much more than that.
