Lugging was bad for the old carburated cars because carbs could only be tuned for specific rpm ranges. Today's fuel injection computers adjust for any rpm. In fact, many cars today have skip shifts that bump cars into "lugging" mode when putzing through a parking lot or something similar. Subsequently many owners remove the skip shift because they hate going from 1st to 4th.

its a d16y7, just a d15b7 with a displacement bump and its got a goofy topmount throttle body on a really ugly intake manifold. they do look carb'ed in person.

Of all the manuals I have driven I had never seen the skip shift until I got my camaro.....luckily someone before me had already put in the skip shift eliminator or I'd have had to park the damn car until I could do it.....I hate alot of these automatic functions on cars that give you no choice on things.....damn it I am driving the car unless the manufacturer is going to take responsibility when I get into an accident because the car is trying to drive itself they need to make it an option to use this shit. I need to be in control of things like traction, under/over steer, SHIFTING, hard acceleration (throttle by wire is shitty).

If it's your car, it should do what you want it to do.

Well, I've been trying for years to find a way for my car to give me 'satisfaction', but despite my best efforts I've been unsuccessful.

by the way, now that I have money for the first time in 3 months I'm looking into that legal thing. do they only defend against traffic citations? What is the spectrum of their services? I'd rather hear it from you than a rep fo the company who might also double as a salesperson.

Not when the EPA, NHTSA, OSHA and every other government organization has their noses stuck in Detroit's business.

That is why I'd like to see sports cars defined and put under a different classification. Like they do with SUVs. They could ease up on all the bullshit the government forces manufacturers to clutter up fun rides with.

Amen, then we wouldn't have to go through the trouble of deleting the air pumps, egr, cats, and getting the ecu re-tuned to actually run with power instead of economy. If I wanted economy I wouldn't be driving a v8 that breaks loose in the first 2 gears.
