LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

Over revving is not good for it, and.......

Some people are also of the opinion that excessive lugging of an engine
is not good for it. If you are lugging it to get better gas mileage,
I install 4" Vacuum Gauges, (looks like a Tach) so people can featherfoot it away from the red lights, without lugging it.....and also so they
can featherfoot it instead of flooring the gas..... -Bob

Excessive lugging? I've never heard that term before.

lugging, like, keeping the rpms low as you drive. it IS bad for your car in the fact that the lower the rpms, the lower the oil pressure. when you are trying to move a 2500+ lb car at only 40psi oil pressure, thats lugging.

You don't think 40psi is adequate to lubricate a stock motor?

I know I regularly drive my Buick where I accelerate between 2k and 2.5k RPMs. I always figured the 40+PSI was good for it...but then again, its just a stock V6...nothing freaky done to the motor.

What range would you consider "lugging" it?

I frequently do 2.5-3k shifts when driving in 'econo mode'.

Your owners manual should have reccomended shift points for your car. I would say 3k rpm shifts are adequate for daily driving in most cars.

Yeah I keep forgetting to go check it.

I think the universal one is 3k.

well...i think i said that wrong. 40psi wouldnt be very good for my car. other cars might be different. i might even be wrong about the 40 psi in the first place.
