Have you ever driven or ridden in a car down a real track that has over 400HP? The skill is keeping it under control and getting the best possible time without planting it into the wall.
and you put John Force in a F1 car and see what happens, think he'd do pretty well in a race?

Or you could put an F1 guy in a fuel car and watch his balls fly out his asshole when he swaps feet.

Fuel calrs (john force) are comparativley easy to drive... Now pro mod or pro-stock etc (see sig) take more skill than you think.

In the first 4 secs in a prostocker you have you let off the line lock, swap feet, and bang 5 gears within 100rpm of perfect while doing basically a controlled burnout. And then once you hook up, the lack of downforce and car stabilty (zero toe) would be very scary.

I've ridden down the track in a skyline Nur edition last time i was back home in the bahamas.....it was very monstrous I do admit. And as much as your trying to stoke an argument like u always do that'll probably end in you making racist comments or referencing some sort of gun violence....I never knocked any professional drag racer or for that matter people that drag race.

My target reference was individuals who take their normal stock factory cars(civic, integras, evo, impreza, srt4.....whatever) and ONLY race it in 1/4 miles to show off their prowess. 1/2 the people don't even design their cars to drag race, they just toss a bunch of high dollar parts into their car the try to "make it work".

Real "drag" cars from what i've seen basically is just a lightweight built frame with a big enough engine in it to take it the 1/4 mile quickest(am sure there are other considerations as well)

I'll tell you what, dukeofurl. Whenever my Mustang is done and you want to see a 'real' balls to the wall drag car and wonder how something that doesn't even put out but 550HP can run 9s, you can come ride in it. Just leave the Soul Glo at home, I don't want you messing up my seats (You brought it up, I had to).

The problem with an 'all around' car is its not really good at any one thing. Its mediocre at them all. Thats why Vince's twin turbo Vette with a 408 can't hook up for dogshit, why most of these Supras can't run under 12s, and why most of the 'drag racers' here run shit times compared to what they could be running.

Building a car for drag means its unstreetable. Period. Suspension, gearing, transmission, powerband, they're all conducive to a great track performance and shit street performance. Thats the nature of a drag car. I could go into details about all the things you need to worry about when building a real drag car, but I'd be here for hours explaining it.

i think its just bc racing on a drag strip with those cars is just cheaper thats y i race at sunshine sometimes its alot cheaper than running at sebring or something and u can run every week as many times as you want. and i know my car is slow at the track but its still fun

Wasn't directed at you Vip. It was more of a support comment to the overly-sensitive drag racers who know deep down in their hearts a big bank account can make up for talent in drag racing.

Back when I was younger and my dad travelled back and forth to england for work we watched the races they would have where they blocked off the city streets and raced and it seemed like your car could have all the engine mods you can throw money at, if it cornered like shit then the slower guy could beat you around turn and generally get far enough ahead of you to leave you in the dust........Discuss.........

p.s. reason why i mentioned this is because you have people all the time saying "oh my civic/srt4/integra/whatever car beats mustangs and corvettes all the time" or whatever. I'm just wondering who's car can stand up to the test of an ACTUAL race not a 10 pedal mash for a 1/4 of a mile.

I agree with you 100%

I have recently started to get REALLY into all around racing, but I think that alot of people that dont know think drag racing is really easy. I mean yeah anyone can drive a car down the track, but its getting that .02 more. not to mention, take the EXACT same car to sebring vs bradenton 1/4 mile drag racing and see which is going to cost you more.. the drag you can go, pay your measily 20-30 dollar admission, run and drive home.. go to sebring, pay your 2-400 dollars, new tires, new brakes and whatever else will go wrong out there.. its a MUCH cheaper sport (at normal levels, not pro serious stuff.)
