Haha I remember this thread.

i obsessively change my oil every 2000 to 4000 miles, avging about 3000 miles. I will refuse to drive to work (or to parts stores) if i am up for an oil change.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

I hate people like this. It costs 15 bucks and takes 20 minutes to have the oil changed at Jiffy Lube. Yeah, we as car people hate Jiffy Lubes for various reasons, but if a non-car-person doesn't make even that minimal effort at least once a year or every 5-6k miles it just shows they are either totally ignorant or totally irresponsible. I have had some help here and there from my family in keeping up my cars, but I'm driving a 91 Nissan I paid for myself so obviously my parents didn't go out and buy me a new car. I do all my work myself and I pay for everything myself except for certain occasions where I've been short on cash and they helped me get my car back on the road. I appreciate what it takes to keep an old car running well so when somebody can't put in the minimal effort needed to keep a new car at least barely functional it really pisses me off.

I can kinda understand it if it's an old POS that burns so much oil that you can completely replace the oil with new oil before the 3k mark just by pouring more in to replace what has been lost. I ran a car like that for a few months once. Burned about a gallon of 3.99 Discount Auto oil for every 15 gallon tank of gas. Yeah, the #1 cylinder piston rings and piston ring lands were pretty much gone. They actually crumbled off in our hands when we pulled the piston from the junk block a few years later just to see the extent of the damage.
