Default Ecotec 2.2's really are good motors

Well... a girl I know has an '05 Malibu w/ the 2.2L 140hp in it... car has 38k miles on it...

Now, in her 12,000 + miles of driving this car, she had not once changed the oil. Never checked the air filter or anything else on the car... Her excuse: "because I don't care about this car"... While she has a C4 sitting at home.

So, after driving this car I figured it needed help... car would not rev past 4k... First thing I did was popped the air box... Filter was clogged with dirt, literally. So I get a $8 filter from Napa and go to town with that...

Next, I changed her oil. Draining the oil reminded me of squeezing a bottle of melted chocolate syrup. You could swear that's what it was.

After I figured out where the oil filter was on this car (accessed from the engine bay), I changed that. That shit was clogged beyond belief with everything under the sun. How gross...

But the thing that amazes me, is that this engine never really fussed and always stayed running. Of course now it runs much smoother, and can actually hit redline, but it's amazing what carelessness a girl could have with her car, and how much that engine tolerated!

Cliff notes for you lazy sumbitches: Girl has 05 Malibu 2.2, goes over 12k without changing oil, air filter is the lose, engine still runs, ecotec 2.2 wins

Anyone else have some crazy stories about people and their neglagence towards their automobiles?

My 1953 Cadillac has an Oil filter on it....and that was a $68 option in 1953. My air filter needs one 'pint' of oil in the bottom of the pan.

Can you imagine cars that DIDN'T even offer an oil filter???

Did you pour the chocolate syrup over her when you boinked her?

I don't think I've ever met a female who actually took care of her car. The closest thing females (the ones I know) do to take care of their car is getting it washed, and even that is'nt saying much.
