know most people here don't like car and driver, but they just did a comparison of the two and the c6 came out on top for all the reasons listed by most of the people in this post. price, weight, handling and speed. they said it was a nice street car, but they were a bit disappointed with the acceleration, like it was lacking about 100hp from the manufacturers claim.

BTW- I'm not worried about a pullied/tuned GT500 in my V6 powered '87 Regal either
apples to oranges, the mustang has a smaller motor and two more seats....

Everyone keeps talking bad about this car yet it is faster then almost everyone who has done so....

Well if that's the case, I've got something to compete with those mighty Vettes.

The GT500 is a cool car, but for what you get, you are buying a name.

The Mustang has a smaller engine than the vette? OK- not smaller than my 3.8L Buick V6 and both my Z06 and Buick are quicker. The Buick also has a back seat, full interior, cold a/c, tunes, 18 mpg and runs 10's @ 125+ mph weighing 3350#'s. Not bad for an 87 Regal with the aero of a cinder block I'll be at BMP tomorrow night on pump gas, and 18 psi boost with a 16.5 degree conservative street chip.

I sure wish the new Mustangs would go on a diet. They are the best looking car you can buy for under 50K and I'd love to see a fleet of them going through some turns.

I'm not a domestic guy but I would definately put my money on the C6. I saw this thing on speed channel last month about them. New vettes are sick! Those dimensions someone listed about the GT500 are god awful. Will surpass 2 tons with a driver in it!

Ford does have to put the car on a diet, but given the fact that they'll sell all of them as they sit i doubt it will happen. I believe this has the iron block in it doesn't it? if they would've used the aluminum block you're looking at at least a 100lb savings..
