you would be lucky to get a GT500 for 42k, a car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it and right now they are selling for 60k+, they are limited production, the C6 is not.....

So for 60 grand you could get a GT500 or a low optioned Z51 C6 and drop a super charger on the LS2 and go GT500 hunting...

Um, not worry about a supercharged LS2 C6 with supporting mods? The point is that the GT500 has to be superchargd just to hang with a C6. By supercharging the C6 the 3900# Mustang should not be able to keep up for the money spent.

BTW- I'm not worried about a pullied/tuned GT500 in my V6 powered '87 Regal either

for all i know the GT500 can be pullied and what ever, there was a Z06 tested on the ring that has a distinct whine...see how them bow tie boys do superchargers i bet it picks up 45-55% more hp. i dont think the high compression would like anything more then 10psi but if GM dropped it to 8.5:1 or 9:1 it could handle a good amount. that is bad news for the ford GT
500 crank X 45%=725 crank hp=about 616whp stock

I don't care how much power it has, I'm not going to choose a 4000 pound boat over all of the other capable platforms that are just as fast out of the box and not carrying around an extra 1000 pounds. Every mod you do to a Vette is going to make it that much faster per HP. Driving dynamics on a big honkin car are always going to suffer compared to a lighter car.

I agree. more of a handling guy myself and I read that the GT500s handling doesnt do them any justice. They are nice but Id rather have the vette anyday.

+ freakin 1. I hate this new thing where because of all these bs laws, today's cars weigh more than yesterday's trucks...despite the advances in technology like BMW using magnesium blocks, everyone using exotic materials, etc.

Since I'm not a hardcore Mopar guy and I rather like the styling of the SK8 (SRT4 is "skittle" and I call the "SRT8" Charger the "SK8", and YES I KNOW its NOT going to catch on)

My problem isnt the 4 doors, its the weight. If your car weighs more than my Supra, then you need to start shedding weight..I dont care how much more power it makes...the biggest enemy to performance is weight...less weight makes a car handle better, get better mileage, accellerate faster, brake better, etc. etc. etc. and dont tell me OEM people cant do it, because both the GTi MkV and the newest NC chassis Miata both weigh less than their previous counterparts.

Amen!!!! Exactly the way I feel, not only for performance, but fuel economy would increase about 20% across the board if most new cars werent' so bloated
