RX7 is a bad idea, exspecially for your first car. And a 3k budget will leave you with a non running broken car.

i cant comment on the other 2 seeing as i havnt owned one. but stay away from the RX7's.

Get a 2 grand Honda, there's plenty around.

Put on a new timing belt and good brakes.

Spend a little bit to make it stick to the road, that way when you
pull away as you exit the turns, they think you have a "fast" car.

One of the great pleasures in life is to outbrake the motorcycles going into the turn, pass the 'Vettes on the outside, and leave 'em behind as you exit.

The rest of what you spend will trickle past as you learn how to work on the car. Chilton manuals from Borders are better than Haynes...imho. -Bob
We all had to learn sometime, so I don't mind helping you out.

You can get a V6 4th gen Camaro for $1500-$2000. The 3800 isn't necessarily fast, but it'll keep up with most of the Hondas recommended in here. The handling on a 4th gen Camaro is actually pretty good. If you get a good deal, you could even find an LT1 V8 4th gen Camaro for your price range.

*Edit - Insurance'll kill you on the LT1 more than likely though.

Yup, because a $2,000 honda econo-job will eat bikes and vettes in the twisties all day long...

I agree with you, the 3.8 is quick for what it is. I would recommend a 3.8 Grand Prix (something like mine, '97 up) but it's a tad bit out of the price range. They handle excellent, though. I don't know about Camaros but whatever you choose, I wouldn't go with a Honda for handling..

EDIT: Get a 2.8 Pontiac Fiero.

Yup, get one for $500 and spend the remainder on an asbestos suit.
