as I said earlier, over head cam is better again. 7500 rpm on those dates were unreal numbers especially if you had a pushrod. 60 and 70's were dominated by US cars and engines but since then they haven't updated till late 90's, because Camry or Accord are most sold cars in US they realised that its time to wake up. Thats the reason they are coming out with better engines. more gas milage and more power.

How did I miss this ? 
Some (sorry 99%) of you drift guys and American car haters need to learn when to bow out of a discussion because the more you try to defend your inital statements (which were all wrong BTW) the worse it made you look.
A few things after reading this abomination:
1. Push rod motors spin 9,500+ rpm's all of the time with no problem.
2. DOHC motors do not have pushrods.
3. Solid rear axles are used more in race cars than anything else. (Drag or otherwise).
4. American built cars don't need to spin to 8,000+ rpm's to make power but can do it if needed.
5. Some of you are straight up clueless.

Oooooooh,, ok, thank you so much for that clarification.
So in conclusion:
Formula One engineers are all stupid.
and
Stock American cars come with 9500rpm NASCAR engines in them.
Oh and since a lot of racecars use solid axles that means they are the best, it doesn't have anything to do with rules banning something better, since gee there is nothing better than a solid axle anyway!!
