How bout this. Each forum gets a chance to produce a contender. There will be a set cut off date, and the track day show down will determine that. You can spend whatever amount of money you want on the car(must keep all reciepts). BUUUUUUT nobody gets to keep their projects. All contenders must remain safe street cars. The reason is that at the end of the competition the cars will be handed over to be ebayed off. The profits will go directly to the TR/TF expansion fund.
So if everyone wants to get a chance to actually enjoy their project before giving them up, then they need to finish them asap so they can race, test, and tune before the big day. Cause after the big day they are gone.
The winning tech forum should get some sort of special treatment...best determined by the admin. And the actual donators of the winning project would get a years worth of free TR santioned track days...or something cool like that. You would have to have put more than 100 dollars into the project to become eligable(sp?). None of this buying a quart of oil shit. Plus the bragging rights is what its all about anyway.

I know this thought is in really rough form, but its putting something that has a productive end out there. There will need to be some guidelines, yet this can remain simple enough. The reason for no spending limit and then never seeing your car again is to promote a put up or shut up contender. Everyone has the chance to put their money where their mouth is because nobody gets any of it money back. You wanna have a real contender? Then you better be willing to either spend the moooola or get really creative. Its all used for the greater good in the end. This can be used as a promotion gimmick in so many ways i hope the admin can pick this up and run with it.
I propose we set up a TR track day to determine the winning forum in dec which would give everyone plenty of time to get ready, and even have som fun with their cars. Plus the weather will be optimal for the best times.
you have a good idea, but....how many people on here actually have the extra money to build an all out super fast street car, to just turn around and just sell it and get basicly nothing back in return.i know the ford guys are just using spare parts and things they have laying around, and when the car is finished they plan to sell and split the money...H/A guys are doing basicly the same, just when the car is done everyone gets there things back...dont get me wrong, you got a good idea, just i dont really think it will go very far on here...most of the people on here are gonna spend there extra money on there own cars, not to put there hard earned money into something there not gonna get any thing out of but a few runs at the track and get no sort of re-embersment out of it....

just something to think about....

Agreed, im with the Honda/Acura section, build it and if it's not blown up or broken give it back.

I just don't see the Mitsu tech forum building a group project car. If they do, I have a few parts I could donate and hell, an entire shell of a car, though I've pulled enough parts off it to fix my car's suspension that I think it's pretty much worthless to build as a project. Hell, if they prove me wrong I'll be glad to help out, but I think Honda and Ford are the only ones likely to pull it off.

Meh, the bike forums would do it but it would really be an unfair match.

okay geniuss.. let's do the math.

for every 100 cars on this forum. my car is faster than 95 of them.

I own a full bolt on, cammed, sprayed, and geared ls1.

probably capable of mid 11's.

if you think that this car couldnt beat 95% of cars on this forum then I'll shut up and leave this thread. but I'll let you re-evaluate your "hmmm doubtful" comment and think again.
