GM is one of the most mismanaged automakers out there right along side mitsubishi
Mitsubishi is getting better though IMO, their new ads are alot better. They are eliminating slow-selling models and sales picked-up last month without gigantic rebates.

On a quality level my mom owned a 99' Pontiac Montana van that would mis-fire occasionally for no reason and the dealer would look at us like we were retarded. The airbag like came on when it felt like it, it ate through a set of brakes by ~35k miles IIRC. My dad has owned a 98' F150 since 2000 and has has zero problems with it other then a passenger side window motor.

I've been disappointed with GM, and basically cars in general, since about 1972. I think it had something to do with castrating the balls off of the cars. It could've had something to do with putting computers in to control the engines too.

I can do all sorts of badass shit with the computer that controls my car. Can you dial in timing advance to the degree at any load and rpm on your car? Stuff like that just isn't possible without computers.

It's not possible and not necessary. The closest I'm coming to a computer in my Camaro is an MSD 6AL box to control the ignition. I see no reason for a computer to control EVERYTHING in the car. Fuel injection specifically bothers me. The mileage is no better than a carburetor most of the time.

But cars with fuel injection won't flood(except rotaries) or vapor lock. 700rwhp Supras can get 30mpg on the highway, could a carbureted car that has 700hp do that? Today's car generation grew up with/around computers so I think most of us tend to embrace them in our cars rather then shun them.

Let me address the issues in order:

1. Fuck your mythical 700hp Supra. Stop Toyota nutswinging.

2. Yes, I could build a 30mpg, 700hp highway cruiser. It would have to be a 572 BBC with a 1.00-1.50 gear ratio in the back with a double overdriven T56 transmission. At least the 572 could push that gear ratio. Either that or I just keep a stock 350 and blow a ton of nitrous to it. There's 700hp when you need it, 280hp when you don't. Fuckstick.

3. Compare my engine to an LT1, since it's the closest modern V8 that shares the same design. LS1/6's use different dimesions, but could also apply to my argument here. My car has a 3.73 ratio ring an pinion, 14" wheels, and no overdrive. If you drive an LT1/LS1/LS6 at ~3000rpm on the highway at 55mph, even with its fuel injection, welcome to ~8mpg like I get. On the other side of the coin, with a T56 transmission and 3.46 ring and pinion in my car, I have no doubt in my mind that I'd get the advertised 17mpg of the LT1/LS1/LS6, if not better since I'm not generating as much power and my car is lighter.

In closing. Fuck yo computers. What's the worst thing I have to do vs. fuel injection? Wait 30 seconds with the choke on to warm up before I drive?
