This one is simple: revving higher with the proper setup makes more power. That's all the reason I would need. Now, with my car, I've got a small turbo and always will, I'm going to run mild cams that keep the powerband in the stock range, and even though I've got my limiter set at 8500 I never shift above 7k because that's the end of my powerband. If I were to go with the dream setup I was thinking about a while back, I'd be running a huge turbo capable of flowing the air and holding boost to high rpm, aggressive cams, a sheetmetal intake, ported head with upgraded valvetrain, and I'd be revving to 9500 rpm because full boost would hit at 5500 and it would keep on making more power from there on up to the limiter.

Max RPM = nothing. What I'm concerned with is what RPM range makes up my powerband. TQ monster V8 is just as useless as a HP monster Honda. If your powerband sucks a dick, who cares where in the RPM range it kicks in? Remember ladies, the real winner is area under the curve, not max HP/TQ.

what does being in the right rpm at any time have to do with reving to 8k? cant i do the same thing in my v8?
