My car can rev higher than yours!
i dont know why they want that, its like the kids with the basically stock 4 bangers telling me there faster cuz there car revs up faster then mine in nuetral
But, that's not where you are making power. Ever put your car on a dyno? I'm sure that after 5k or so, your power level drops off dramatically. So, it would be smarter for you to keep your RPM below that to make the most power.
For me, my powerband is between 3k-5.5k RPM. I love trying to stay in that powerband, to work the most out of my car and engine.
I've got 108 hp, which isn't much at all. I've got to work the most of the car, and the engine, to use that power effeciently.

Also, you should shift a little above youre powerband so when the RPMs fall, theyll fall back into the sweet spot.

What I meant by my drag racing v autocross comparison is that to me, autocross is a more "involved" form of driving. It involves chassis, suspension, brakes, engine. All must be balanced to succeed at autocross. Including the driver, as well. Likewise, an engine that must be kept in the upper RPM to obtain power is much more involved than a nice torquey V8.
I want to say right now, don't turn this thread into drag racing vs. whatever. Everyone likes what they like, has their own preferences and oppinions.

I wish I had could rev my motor too 6500, but i dont even need it for auto-xing myself. Maybe when i step upto road coursing iw ill want it, but for autoxing I dont need it. Most events im in 2nd gear the entire time between 3000-4500 rpms. Only this past a event, I revved to redline and if there was nymore room I woulda had to shift to 3rd.
whtmustangt99 mentioned that people think they're faster because their car revs up quicker. That's exactly why reving to 8,000 isn't a "downfall" in Honda terms, because I rev up faster than you do. In the time it takes to get into your 4,000 rpm?? (Don't know GT's powerband) powerband, I'm already at my 5,700 rpm powerband. So I would say we both reach our powerbands at the same time regardless of what RPM it's at. There's no arguing about my car being faster, I know it's not, but it's not because I have to rev higher. I find it amazing that my car redlines at 8,400 rpms, I'm sure some of your cars could do it, but reving to 8,400-9,000 rpms WITHOUT floating a valve or something is the "fascinating" part about it. I'm happy with my 4 banger, quick enough for me and gets 26 city mpg, along with only costing me $18. If I wanted a fast car, I'd sell my Type R and buy a GT or SS or WS6 for the same amount. *shrugs*
*Edit* Only costing me $18 to fill my tank.

Revving high can serve its perpose but by itself it doesn't mean much. I'm tired of this elitist crap with the auto-x'ers and road course people thinking drag racing is easier.
