As far as U.S. standards keeping japanese "supercars" away, that is total BS, they can make them legal if they choose, I would say economics has a lot more to do with those cars not being here than the EPA. Fast & Furious was funny to me at the time it was released because I honestly thought nobody could be stupid enough to go for that shit and try to live like that. Boy, was I wrong. Fast & Furious has done more to destroy racing scenes and cast anyone with a fast street car in a bad light than anything I can remember. Yes, there are people out there stupid enough to try to live that way, a lot of them in fact, just look at you for instance.............................

ok... so we're missing... 2 cars that japan or europe has... but you need to understand that 99% of america doesn't buy cars for any reason other than A to B transportation, and most major car companies don't give 2 shits about whiny 15 year olds who want skylines or atoms, because A) you can't afford them and B) just because you bench race them, that STILL doesn't make any money for the manufacturers. it's fucking economics. the excuse for YEARS over why the evo wasn't in the US was because of the front bumper. but look what happened with that... they put a new damn bumper on it and voila, it's here in the US... why? because subaru proved that people like cheap speed. why isn't the skyline here? it's not cheap. end of discussion... doesn't have shit to do with emissions or safety, otherwise motorex wouldn't be able to import them.
on a related note, i think if anything we need MORE safety regulations. why you might ask? because the majority of people on the roads are either:
talking on their cell phone
driving 20 in the left lane
completely legally retarded
or driving an suv while doing a combination of the last 3 things.
so why in the fuck would you want to be driving around in a 1500 pound car made of plastic and paper thin aluminum?

Good points deffinetly made.
Yes, America definetly wants cars to get from A to B...in fact the actual percentage of "sports car guys" last I checked was 2% for in the market for a new sport'y' car. However I think that could easily change with cars like the SRT-4 we have, cheap performance (as oxymoronic as it sounds). However there are also track cars like the Atom (which is a bit harder/uncommon to get over here) and the Elise (until recently wasnt "legal" over here) that would be nice to have...like kit cars already built and even warrantied. Doesnt necessarily mean you have to drive it on the streets every day though
I personally could care less for the SkyLine...I just dont care, I'm a Toyota guy anyways so of course I'm going to flock towards Toyota's flagship.
I think MotoRex went out of buisness recently IIRC...

I promise everyone else that as I get closer to getting a car, I get better...just picked up a Haynes manual yesterday for the MkIII...so its not like I'll hang on the nutsack of the MkIII and then end up getting a Geo
