My advice would be too contct mercury claims dept. Basicly what will happen is we will take all your info, and send adj out to appraise your damage. I know you have appraisal already but we need to apppraise damages. Then you can take your veh to your shop or one of our guaranteed repar shops. The guaranteed repair shops are the best bet, the work that is done there is guaranteed for life, even if that shop goes out of business. Also if you need alterante transportation let your adj know so they can set up rental veh with enterprise. Mercury will need to contct our policyholder to just confirm accident. After that all is good. We will issue check payable to either you, or a bodyshop you want to use. Pretty simple, I would just call the Mercury Ins claims dept and make the claim.

yes, i called them and made a claim, jason of clearwater handled the recording and what not. he saids he has to contact the policy holder and once they do that, an appraiser will come out and see the dammage and then i canbring the car out to the repair shop

Good, hopefully everything works out fine for you. Mercury is good about getting you taken care of.

Problems like this is when it helps to have a good insurance company, not one of those cheep rate ones.
This is with State Farm. The other guy's insurance was too busy after hurricane Charley to even talk to me. I made a claim with State Farm. I know I will get the deductible back and my rates did not go up.

out of all the answers in this thread, this is the only correct answer. pretty sad.

if you go through your own insurance company, you WILL have to pay the deductable. then when progressive subrogates thought the other company, you will get your deductable back. this is a not-at-fault accident, dont worry your rates will not be affected by this type of claim. i've worked for progressive for over 4 years, refer to sig.

really? unless its a dual claim(both people have the same insurance company) then you should always have to pay the deductable until your insurance subrogates. however if you go throught the other persons insurance, you dont have to pay the deductable.

and hes not with a cheap insurance company, 3rd largest in the US.

DO NOT CONTACT YOUR CLAIMS REP! Contact HERS!!!

Personal Lines insurance is based off of claims frequency, not payout. Frequency is too high, you get cancelled, and this WILL count against you if you contact your insurer.

But feel free to contact your agent for further guidance, they will assist you (AGENT, not CLAIMS). Also, if you have issues, contact the Florida Dept of Insurance. They will help for FREE.

doesnt work that way with progressive. the only thing that progressive cares about is if you are not-at-fault or at-fault. and since they are a high risk company, they dont care about frequency. and it WILL NOT count against him if its not-at-fault. he could get in 50 not-at-fault accidents and progressive wouldnt give a shit, and his rates would not be affected at all.

he has to contact them reguardless, they always need to take a statement of loss, he has no choice.
