Or do you not have the balls like I suspect? See you in the staging lanes... I'll be in the grey 97 240sx

refer to sig young pup. i've worked for the third largest insurance company for the past 5 years, im a senior underwriter. i know for a fact that a civic costs more than a mustang or camaro to insure. i have quoted it on many insurance policies.

here is an example of a quote i just did:
25yo, no points, florida resident

2001 honda civic ex, full coverage $622 for 6 months.
2001 camaro z28, full coverage $608 for 6 months.

now with just liability:
2001 honda civic ex, liability only $264
2001 camaro z28, liability only $292

now let me explain the reason behind this. liability only protects other people when you hit them. so the liability rate is based on the wieght of your car and the size of your engine. so liability is obviously more on a camaro.

but when you have full coverage(physical damage), you have to include the comprehensive rating(theft rating) and collision rating(how much is cost to fix your car if it is damaged)

so since the civic is the #1 stolen car in america and it costs more to fix than a camaro, when you have full coverage, a civic will cost more.

hope you learned something today, and dont ever question my insurance skills again please. especially when im at work and have the rating software right in front of me.
That's great that you work for an insurance company but I would respectfully disagree. When I bought my cobra new in 1998 I was 23yrs old. I went to my insurance company to start a new plan so to speak. My agent got my info and went into his pc to see what my current company would charge on my new car. He said they would not cover me under than car. So I had to go with another company with a higher premium. Now I'm pretty sure if I drove an integra, civic, accord, etc. that they would have covered it.

Would you agree with this analogy?

If 100 single males under 25 all get a rwd v8 that makes we'll say 320hp that their insurance will be less than if they were to purchase a 120-160hp fwd 4 cyl?

You tell me which of the two is going to have more claims? I know that if it's easier to steal at civic, accord, integra that insurance companies will take that into consideration but compare how many thefts there are to compared to how many accidents there are per day. -Mark

It all depends on your taste. On either end of the spectrum you can find a cheap way to go fast.

dude hes right... the insurace on the civics and stuff IS more expencive.. when i was car shopping me and my parents put together a list of 10 cars to take into the insurance company and get quotes on. i had the civic, integra, mustang gt and a few other cars on there.. the reason im driving a mustang right now is because it had the lowest cost on insurance. as he said, with liability it is cheaper, but not full coverage.. we priced with several insurance companys by the way.

Guess you have never sat in a nova engine bay while working on the motor.
