my car looks stock, no wing, no sticker, just exhaust, not even rims

Theres no way they can make it illegal to have aftermarket parts on your car. Maybe give you a ticket for noise, but not just because its aftermarket. Think about how many replacement stock parts are actually aftermarket.(anything you get an a parts store just about) If its not made by the actual car manufacturer or came as an option brand new, its aftermarket.

 

Actually, its illegal to modify your exhaust in ANY way from stock! That means any aftermarket muffler that may be louder or whatnot. Its been this way for a long time. Its also illegal to remover/ tamper with the cats.. Its a $3000/ PER OFFENCE to tamper with emisions equiptment. (2 cats gone, $6k and its a federal offence) They can also make you open your hood at ANY time to do a vehicle inspection. If they find out the smog equipt. isnt right or something that not legal, they can impound your ride..

Be thankful you only get a cheap fix-it ticket.

 

yeah be grateful w/ a $60 fix it ticket, not like it takes points off ur license. i got my $60 fix it ticket for my exhaust but that's b/c i backfired flames. just pay it, and move on and hope another cop doesn't decide to be a dick

 

Man you people must drive like assholes, none of my vehicles have usually had mufflers, with the exception of my old 5.0, which ran un-muffled for awhile(sounded like shit), but still even when I had the flowmasters with dumps it was very loud, my DSM was a 3 inch open downpipe, and both of my trucks have been open exhaust all the way back, present truck included, 3.5 inch from the turbo back, no cat (it's a diesel), and no muffler. You people somehow pissed them off.

 

Maybe a louder than stock muffler, I will agree with. But theres no way you can't get aftermarket parts. If you had to go to the dealer to get replacement exhaust, I bet its close to $1500 or so, which not very many people would be doing.

 

actually i believe the law states that it is illegal to have an after market exhaust IF it makes your car louder to a certain Db from xx feet away. honestly they cant make exhaust illegal, it has nothing to do with the emissions as long as it is a cat back exhaust.

 

im lucky i own a 300zx...they say pop your hood plz..and i say ok..they just stare blankly......lol everything is so cramed in there, they wont know what there looking at expcet the big red Twin Turbo emblem...lol..if anyone has seen under the hood of a 300zx they know what im talking about...
