That is stupid. I can't see how that is legal? How can they put a law into effect AFTER the fact.. I can see it pertaining to cars built AFTER the law was made but not before. Isn't there a constitutional right that protects individuals against things like this?

You cannot be charged with a crime or infraction when it was a legal act at the time you did it. They make a law and then come after people that already legally modded thier cars. NO WAY.

It sounds like this guy is investigating the pizza place (who knows maybe they are selling drugs and you dont know it) and he was just lookking for an excuse to pull you over... so that he could talk to you about it

 

quickcivic you are absolutely right. so i guess you should carry a receipt of either when you bought or installed your exhaust and a copy of the bill of rights.

and make sure you find out when the law came into effect

I got pulled last Saturday night by PSO and the cop basically told me that they where using the exhaust law to crack down on the street racers, particularly out at Gandy. Will it actually work, no, not likely. If the police pulled over everybody that had an aftermarket exhaust they might make a shitload of money on $46 fix it tickets but what other crimes would go unsolved and what court system would be able to handle the backlog of people fighting the tickets.
Just another example of our tax dollars being misspent to carry out the agendas of others.

No, I was goin to score some crack. Then I figured I'd stop by that sex shop by the Dog Track and pick me up an underage prostitute. Then for kicks stop at the bar and get really loaded. Then just for good measure run every red light on my way home while speeding at twice the legal limit through construction and school zones. Oh yea and by the way have an illegal muffler on the car...
