Just some tough love,.. nothing but love.
What ever it takes to prevent you from chopping it up.

As for the Cobra rear bumper on a non Cobra,.. its done all the time. They see the 5.0 on the side and they want to race. 5.0 these days is easy pickins for many imports. Not like it was in the old days.

I put Cobra front and rear bumper covers on my 96 GT. Granted,.. I had a 96 Cobra engine and everything else that made a Cobra different from a GT on the car,.. (A true Cobra clone) I had no intention of ever putting the snakes on the fenders,.. or the SVT emblem on the trunk. I still have the original SVT emblem and snakes from my wife's Cobra. I kept the "Mustang GT" graphic on the rocker and let people think it was a GT in Cobra skin.

I agree with the others,.. its your car. Do what you want. But,.. expect to take the bad with the good. Many people will tease you (Myself included) about popping holes in the rear skirt for the exhaust to poke through. I teased Ruler to no end about having that Cobra-R wing on the back of his SN95 car as did many others. I've seen many cars done,.. with all kinds of tips, trim around the holes,.. trailer hitches in the middle of them,.. even saw one that had the "M U S T A N G G T" letters lit with LED lights. And out of all of that,.. not a single one I saw that I personally liked or thought was ok. I personally thought they all looked like trailer park redneck trash.

Personally I would just do dumps. Or if your dead set on having tail pipes coming out like the LX then either LX, Saleen, Cobra or Steeda bumper skins would work better.

Your choice,..

Any time you present any kind of bend or something like going from a larger pipe to a smaller pipe,.. it creates a form of restriction. Its why I like sand bent or mandrel bend exhaust pipes. I dont like the kinked bends that many mass produces cat backs have. In your case.. I doubt it will kill any power that you can feel with a stock motor. It will sound a little different though,.. smaller pipes wont bellow like larger pipes do.

If you use 2 1/4" (2.25") tail pipes with the rest of the exhaust being 2 1/2" (2.5"),.. the whole exhaust may as well be 2.25". It can not flow any faster than the smallest portion of the exhaust. In doing so you relegate any 2.5" pipe useless.

Fuck dumps... Unless you like smelling exhaust in the car. I ran them one lone time and wont do it again. Inside always smelled of fuel. Cant take chicks out if your car smells like fuel all the time,... Well then again, the fumes will knock em out...

I've run dumps on 4 different Mustangs and never had that problem. Maybe you had smelly exhaust?

The one issue I think some might have a problem with is when at the drive thru you have to shut the car off for the girl to hear you place your order.

I guess its better than all those people who put those stick on 3 hole Buick slots on their front fenders. Who ever holds the patent on those has made a fortune,.. I've seen them on everything from Civics to Dodge Ram trucks. Mustangs included. Who would have ever thought something so stupid would sell so well.

I never dis'd the GT emblems. I told you they looked pretty cool. I actually thought they were from the rear of a New Edge Mustang. They look similar.

But as for the 2 1/2 to 2 1/4 pipe. Um,.. your bud telling you it wont matter isnt the guy who is selling them is he?

Look at it like this. Picture in your mind,.. a straight piece of 4" pipe 3ft long. Now imagine a reducer going to 2" and then expanding back out to 4". The effective flow of that pipe has been reduced to 2",.. despite 90% of it being 4".

The entire exhaust is like a chain,.. its no better than the weakest link. Or in this case,.. it can not flow any more than the smallest pipe.

Here,.. I drew a picture for you to better understand.

In your case,.. its doubtful that your engine needs large pipes. But 2.5" exhaust systems have proven to be effective over stock 2.25" pipes.

Personally I would run dumps before putting a 2.25" catback to a 2.5" exhaust system. But its not going to severely hurt anything by having them on there. If your uncomfortable with out the tail pipes, then put them back on until you find something else more suitable.
