He's got an 89LX Mass Air car? COME ON it's blasphemy throwing a carb on it unless there's a Nitrous plate underneath with some BIG JETS!! Removing the EEC-IV, all wiring harnesses, sensors, and injection?? I used to like tuning with the foundation it came with from the factory and seeing the progress that can be made with aftermarket EFI parts!

o.k , I've got the motor at my shop now , 289 ported heads , stock 302 , 210 hp plate kit , 530 roller , 1.6 rollers. dont know the HP but I do know it pulled multiple 6.9 passes with a 4.11 in a coupe with victor jr and 750 holley . Actually ran this with stock rod bolts , stock C4 converter on slicks with almost no suspension mods other than a 4 cyl spring on one side and a Gt spring on the other in the back . I thought it was pretty impressive considering the amount of money it took to do it
wow not to shabby with that setup at all.... see my current car that I will never get rid of is a 600 hp evo that is a 10 second car. So I am trying to keep my expectations down because I didnt put that much money into the evo to do that just turbo, meth and cams with some supporting mods and done. Its been so long since I have had a fox that I am trying to relearn everything.

If you get the tune dialed in right on an EEC-IV or V it'll idle like a dream and behave wonderfully in normal daily driving situations, I don't really see a down side??
And expensive? I had a few spare 9AL's back in the day I sold for $60, people are literally giving away injectors now at all lb ratings and places like MPS have full wiring harnesses for MAF conversion etc.. Same for Intakes and TB's, they can be had at very reasonable prices at Forum classifieds, Ebay...
So if you pick up a 5.0L that has the stock EFI is it worth it to strip it down, then throw a carb and intake on it?? Wouldn't be the route I'd take!
