Tampa speed Shops?
My experiences with these shops:
All were nice guys.
RR: Took my car there for pulley install & dyno. Was told car was detonating during first dyno pull, then they proceeded to make another full pull w/out making any changes (no SCT software). Why they ran it again, I don't know.
BO: Thermostat install (not long after visiting above shop). Car lost coolant and overheated. I added coolant & burped the cooling system correctly, problem gone.
RP: Got 2 price quotes (same) for suspension work. First, before I went. Second, before I left the parking lot after dropping the car off. Upon picking the car up I was given a bill for TWICE the amount I was quoted. Was told that the job took 2 guys 4 hours to do. Other owners claim to have done the job in 1-2 hours by themselves.
CD: CB & CAI sale + install. Perfect install. Sam actually gave me a used stock H-pipe free of charge. BTW, I was quoted $300 by another shop above for a used H-pipe.
Just sharing my experiences. Good luck whoever you choose.

We need a good shop in Bradenton/Sarasota so If you know of any that want to relocate that is where you need to be. I wouldnt recommed any shops here. I will be going to the Tampa area shops soon.

I trust the pulley was installed correctly and you were charged the accurate amount quoted. The amount of detonation was extremely slight, second run I am sure was for confirmation of actual pinging.I would also like to add that I trust we did not quote you 300 for a h-pipe.I take my customer service very seriously and would like to express my apologies for any ill feelings.

This is precisely why I created this thread:

I'm tired of all the constant plugging and bashing of shops. People need to do their own research and use the shop thats best for THEM!

Yes, I was very happy with your pricing/installation, along with your courteous service.
I was however curious about your performing the second full pull. I asked your employee what your reasoning for it was, and he said he would ask you, but I never heard back from him. I guess this could've been avoided had I driven the car to listen (if it was audible) for the detonation immediately after the pulley install. BTW, am I wrong to assume that any degree of detonation is bad...especially on an aluminum head car?
Oh yeah, the quote for a used stock H-pipe (that most customers leave behind) was not from your establishment.
I'm not sure if you're referring to my comments, but I was simply posting my experiences with the formentioned shops. I didn't bash/recommend any of them. If I broke any rules, I apologize.

I am smiling while writing this and am just trying to better serve, sometimes it is hard to read emotions.
Detonation of any sort is bad, however being a senior tuner we sometimes bring a car to slight detonation to find the threshold of advance that a given engine will allow, then from experience we drop back 4 or so for a safe yet aggressive tune on the street.BTW it is a great deal easier to hear detonation on a dyno especially very light detonation. And IMO you did a great service by telling your experiences,it seperates the ones who are rying from the ones who are not.
Thanks again
