3" Mac Catback w/ stainless tips
Just an update from things I've seen firsthand, MAC's headers arent always welded as nice as you'd hope. If you do get a set try to hold them up out in the daylight n look thru the collectors for any missed welding points where the primarys merge. Its alot better to fix a leak with the header off the car then on, and I've found brand new, out of the box, MAC longtubes with leaks and poor welds on the collectors. Secondly, I have seen the inside of a cut open MAC prochamber before and it sure isnt anything I'd want on my car ( lots of flow killing slag and rough pipe edge inside ). Third, after just having installed the older 3" catback on a friends car that required a shitload of fitting, cutting and welding I wont be buyin one for my car. MAC's newer 3" catback sytems have a welded on 3 1/2" tip which in my opinion is too big and looks like shit. The 2 1/2" systems have a welded on 3" tip, I dont like a flared out tip, I prefer it to be all the same diameter. Unfortunately, there dont seem to be any alternatives for a 3" catback unless u can buy some mandrel bent 3" U-bends for over the axle then fab one up from there. Im sticking with my DynoMax stainless 2 1/2" catback with Flowmasters for now because it fits like a dream every time, looks and sounds great. If MagnaFlow Bassani or Dyno makes one I'll check it out then. If u can get the BBK 1 3/4" longtubes with a 3" collector I'd go with those. From comparing 351 longtubes MAC and BBK side by side, myself I prefer the primary port shape and better build quality of the BBK's. For the mid pipe I would rather run a 3" X then a procamber so I'd probly go with Dr Gas or build one. For the catback its up to your taste in sound and looks. I actually kind of like the sound the 3" MAC mufflers and catback have..its a shame they cant bend it right and use stainless tips the same diameter as the rest of the catback.

I got to hear a setup with the mac long tubes, pro chamber and the black cat backs in 2.5 inch. The car sounds nice as hell. Im not worried about fitment, nothing a torch and prybar cant fix. That and I can always weld in some super 40's or original 40's. The guy who owns the car said the only issue he had was the prochamber fitment to the cat backs. I will mock it up before I install it. Plus he told me to install the headers BEFORE I dump in the motor and tranny.
