Default B&M Shifter options?

Any of you ever use a B&M shifter for an AOD? I am torn between using my stock 68 shifter and making a new shift rod or running with a Hammer or Quicksilver....

Any pros or cons other than cable vs. rod?

This is going into a 68 Mustang, so it will be the non console mounted shifter...

Had a Hammer shifter in my last car with a C4 and have one going into the current car with AOD. Love 'em.

Not to jump on the coat tails of this thread... But...

I have an AOD currently in my car, and was plannin' on the C4 for the replacement (not going to be a full time street car). If I picked up a B&M Shifter now, it would work on both trannies, right?? I was under the impression there is a conversion kit to make the AOD shifters fit to the C4, when I change it out down the road. I've never done ANYTHING to an Auto Tranny before, lol. I also was curious as to the shifter choices, and which is best/better. I've seen the Mustang Console Hammer, and it's pretty sexy...

Thanks,

Josh

You are correct Josh, you can use the hammer shifter for both trannys, however if you want to switch from AOD to C4 then you will need to buy the conversion kit I think it is like 60.00 bucks through Summit. And then also if you decide you want something more all out race, there is also the cheetah shifter. But the Hammer shifter is great as it fits in the console of the mustang, and looks like it belongs there, rather than something sticking out of the ashtray console much like alot of the cheetah, or speed/Pro ratchet shifter's.

Thank you sir! I'll be on the lookout for a good Hammer Shifter, and a nice C4 w/transbrake!
