Anyone know the HP rating for the FRPP 302 Sportsman block?
I was talking to a guy at Brandon Ford and he told me the max recommended horsepower for the 302 Sportsman block was 450. I thought that was low. Anyone?

Ford just rerated the block to 450hp @6500 rpm. I know alot of A/sedan guys were having problems and bitching to FORD so they lowered it so they dont have to listen to everyone. I guess they are not as strong as thought to be. Sucks cause I just built a motor w/ one and I am near 400hp and turn 6000+rpm all day. I put a main girdle on it so I hope that helps.

PN M-6010-R302/M-6010-S302 (Professional Competition) are rated for 1200 HP @ 8500 RPM
Specs for the Aluminum Race block are not listed.

I am making way over that at the motor. If you do a drivetrain loss conversion in line with the 10% less Mustang dynos read I am at close to 600.
My best at the tires on Sams dyno is 465 / 473 so that is over 500/500 on a Dynojet.
I have seen 625 / 712 on a stock block without problems and have seen them blow at 400. It all depends how many RPM's you turn for extended amounts of time.
