Anyone know the HP rating for the FRPP 302 Sportsman block?
I had a stock block 347 that held 600hp.... also and friend of mine won the true street class at bristol this past weekend and won it.. with a stock block 302, stock cam, bottom end, aode and a stage 1 hp 60mm turbo kit and went a 9.40 and was very upset about that.. so he detuned it to run 11.0 and won..
Point is find out from people who really know and have ran this block.. My brother runs one and makes 821hp. it's hard blocked also.. So don't listen to those who say 450.. they are retards. it's all in the tune .. don't detonate and you'll be fine.
Take a look at an early block and compare it to the B50 block.
Make your own decision.
Make your own decision.

I just wanted help in this situation with the Factory rating.. cause they are under rating them to save their azzes due to some idiots who can't tune..... Like I said I have a friend that has a 302 stock block, rods, crank, cam, performer rshared_pm intake , and a stage 1 HP 60mm turbo kit that made over 500hp and running strong with no issues at all. I ran 6.20's with a stock block.. 125 shot on a 347 w/powerglyde in a stock block girdled. Make sure your tune is safe before hand and it will live if you will.... stock block (will for sure ) hold more than 500hp and a sportsman (will) hold 800+ girdled and grouted with no probs if your tune is safe. Even if you had a r block or a boss block it will screw up too if your tune is way off and you detonate it...
Seen stock blocks hold that.... too many questions I see here instead of facts... People dont need spend too much time calling here there and everywhere... Just don't detenate it and run a sportsman unless you plan on making well more than 800hp.. Thas all you need to know. Otherwise your doing yourself no justice.. and if someone tells you a stock block won't hold over 500 hp then don't ask that person for advice again.. if someone tells you a sportsman won't hold more than 600 don't ask that person for advice either...

Ford just rerated the block to 450hp @6500 rshared_pm. I know alot of A/sedan guys were having problems and bitching to FORD so they lowered it so they dont have to listen to everyone. I guess they are not as strong as thought to be. Sucks cause I just built a motor w/ one and I am near 400hp and turn 6000+rshared_pm all day. I put a main girdle on it so I hope that helps.
ah don't sweat it my bro runs a sportsman and makes 821 hp at last dyno test and going back to break the 900's .. He also turns his more than you do.. Just make sure you got your tune in check and don't detonate it.. no probs.
On the 351 "sportsman" block is WAY under-rated! They say the bore specs is to 4.030, hell a stck block goes further than that. I have a buddy that is running a 351 sportsman at 4.155 on an ass load of spray!

Fact, the B50 block is no better than a Mexican block.
Fact, the main caps will walk and the block will develop a crack at the main bolt that will migrate just like a stock block.
Fact, the B50 block is an overpriced POS.
Fact, to advise anyone that this block will handle 800hp is irresponsible.
Why dig this thread up? Are you trying to peddle a B50 block?
