In drifting are you hanging out the rearend and drifting across the finish line faster than the other guy? Since the answer to those questions is no then "Drifting"=Lame. Drag racing is motorsports competition, Stock car racing is motorsports competition, rally racing is motorsports competition, road racing is motorsports competition, Autocrossing is motorsports competiton. Drifting is some slapdicks in a parking lot doing donuts.
Drifting is a motorsports competition as well, although it is still in its infancy locally. Who cares the point of a drift competition isn't to get the lowest time? Different strokes for different folks.

Don't forget, there are also "slapdick" dragracers racing illegally on the streets.

Guess Rod Millen and his son are "slapdicks" then..
I haven't done it, so I'm not going to knock it. Others should learn that as well.

drift-R's suck............. sorry but i see no skill there, who cannot drive a car sideways around a corner, its really not that hard..........

i know your type R toyotakawasakinagasaki guy in japan does it for a long corner in a fast highly modified car, but here in america it is a bunch of ricers having a who can hit a tree first competition......... its dumb kids in their stock 240's shoving boards in-between the rear springs so they do not compress so there ass end can actually break traction even though they have 800 treadwear hard ass 125 width tires..........

News for ya people, try looking at other motor sports because they ALL take alot of skill and alot of car setup and drifting is no different. Its not just laying the backend out and screeching around a corner... its more about car control and keeping your car in a controlled state while at the same time being in an unstable state and doing it with style, its got more showmanship than drag racing or nascar or rally.

Its no where near as easy as it seems and just because you slide your backend around doesnt mean your drifting. Not that i'd know, i've never drifted.. lol

when the show "Rides" did their build up of an IS300 with a v-8, they had a small segment in it about drifting. looks interesting, but just something I've never been into.
like I said, not going to knock it though, as I have not tried it.
