No Drift?
ok i used to have a 1991 240sx, sr20det swap, and those cars are made for it, i had it gutted, driver and passenger seat only, i had taylor from secret services (who drives a RHD 240sx with an rb25det in it) give me a little bit of pointers on it and now that i am getting the feel for it, it is actually very fun and somethin that i enjoy doing with my mustang also
it takes alot of skill, one wrong move and u can end up in a tree.. so its jus to each is own, if u can do it good u love it, if uve tried and cant do it u hate it..

Since Mustangs produce so much torque right out of the box, I am surprised that some of you (and other 'stang owners) haven't given the whole drifting thing a try. Since a lot of, if not all of the JDM cars are highly modified so that they have the high TQ numbers needed to break loose and spin the tires to kingdom come, and the V8's of the American brand have a lot of torque to start with. I know it's a new thing here in the states, and new stuff, for some reason either scares people or they turn their backs on it all together, but I think it would be pretty awesome if a fleet of drifting Mustangs, Z28s, & T/A's went out and started to invade the Import dominated sport.
lots of people do burnouts, donuts, and stuff like that to show off anyways, why not do it for competition and fame and fortune..bla bla..?

dont forget.. i learned from one of the best
I just happened to browse in this forum tonight because of a request to look at a thread and I saw this one...
If you've ever looked into drifting, you'd notice most of the professional drift cars are 400-600hp. Not performance cars?????? You lost me there.
If you've never tried it then you have no reason to say derogatory things about it (and I'm not talking lets turn a corner and fish tail because that isn't drifting). You have NO IDEA how much skill it actually takes to keep a car sideways CONSTANTLY around turns and countering it right and left while maintaining control. Yes, it is possible to do it without much power, but then you need even more skill.
I'm not saying that what we do locally is professional drifting because it isn't. We aren't going 90mph around turns... we're only at the top of 2nd gear. All I can say is that I've never had so much fun participating in any other motorsport event (and I've auto-xed and drag raced). It's all opinion. Whatever tickles your pickle. No reason for anyone to knock any motorsport. It's all in taste.
Now, if you were to try it and tell me you don't like doing it, then that's fine! I wouldn't say drag racing = anything derogatory especially in comparison to drifting.
That is all.
