Florida court system= FAIL on these type of things. It would take an act of congress or he would be of age before change would take place

 

It's not just Florida. It's everywhere in general. I was stolen from my mother when I was 3 by the babysitter. The state saw my mom working as a gogo dancer and decided she was not fit to be a mother. I was put into foster care, and then adopted. All within 6 months.

The system is flawed and seriously sucks. It has sucked for years and will CONTINUE to suck.

 

First of all, THANK YOU to all you fathers who are responsible for your children. Second, Pat, it sounds like a bad situation no matter what happens. If you voluntarily cut back on the money, might your son think he's suddenly worth less to you? Going to court sounds even worse. It's tough because your son is old enough to know what's going on and young enough to take all of it personally. Bad deal all around.

 

It's not about cutting back. It's about being able to tell my ex "Fuck Off" without any ramifications (in my ass). I give way more to all my children...clothing..cars...gifts...and any other things thye may need. I still give plenty. My 18 year old that just moved here got a new leather living room set, tables, LCD TV etc from me. I have no problem helping them above and beyond. I just hate my ex. I want to tell her pound smoke up her ass....without having to worry about getting hauled back into court.

 

Pat unfortunately in this F**ked up state, with the amount of money you make if she takes you back she will get more. The support is primarily based on your income,hers doesnt make much of a difference at all. I am in a similar situation and have always paid since day one (even though the itch cheated on me). I am always getting told "I will take you back for more". I have just gotten to the point where I say "f**k you,take me back" I am not going to live my life in fear of her stupid ass. Just another piece of info of how bad this state drops the ball on this type of thing. My ex has since had a baby with a guy who just got out of state prison and has a rap sheet three pages long. I contacted my atty. to see if I could get my kids in order to keep this upstanding citizen away from them and I was told it will never happen. I was told she pretty much has to be smoking crack with them in the room, for anything to happen. This is definately a reactive state not a proactive one. They always wait for something to happen before they say "maybe we should have done something about that." Its very sad.

 

Sounds like more than enough money for one child under 18. Also sounds like you make enough money to get you a decent attorney that could fight for ya.
