Eh , that's not terribly expensive. Now consider how terribly expensive it is to drag race (#1 you need the hp wich costs big $$ , then you need supporting modifications to run decent 60ft times and launch wheel , + fixing shit when it breaks) All forms of autosports are expensive , it's a pay to play sport.

i think someone completely missed the point of what evean said......

he has a valid point, driving at an event shouldnt cost $100+

yes street drifting is free but with how much the cops love busting balls its getting hard to find spots.....

these events are supposed to be the alternative, but in reality they cost too much and are soo far apart that they are hardly worth it.....

i cant agree anymore than you Funk.

Pricing for running the tracks should really cost between $50-$75. 30 is too cheap funk.

Each car pays $90 x 15 cars = $1,350.00
Spectators fee $10 x 60 people = $600.00

The money for the spectators should go into the owner's pocket, while the cars should pay for insurance and other fees for the track. I know that there are some extra fees to keep the track running such as land taxes, but things like resurfacing the track is done like on a 2 or 5 year bases, which cost like what...$8k for ocala? There are other events that helps keep money flowing into the track too.
I dont back this up with a source, its based on my guess, so if my numbers isnt correct, i dont mind if anyone corrects me, but drifting on a course shouldn't cost $90.

200 in tires? why? shit you can get used tires for like 20-30 mounted each, should cost you no more then $100 for 2 sets.

90-100 is pretty much the normal for drift events. look at Drift Day cali, its the same and they sell out EVERY event.

if your making a reference to the ter-tech event dont forget the prizes prize money and the amount of track time..practice events have been right in your $50-75 range since i moved down here. so if you dont like 90 pay $50-75 at practice events. whatever you do .. if you guys just say it's too much and never show up to events it'll never get cheaper..show interest and bigger sponsors will come and events will get cheaper. or atleast you'll get more out of your money.

Drifting is the hardest form of wear on your engine. Dragging doesn't require anything, just a good driver, except if you are competing and such. drag racers aren't at redline the whole time they are in a straight line, drifters are at redline for a solid 5 minutes (however long the track/drift is). So in turn, drifting does cost a shitload of money, either to replace your engine for blowing it up or put money into it so it won't blow up. Then to deal with suspension parts that break, crashing, tires, etc...

I think we should make a thread on "How much does it cost to drift?" just my .02 though.
