drifting prices
well, i think the x amount of time per run group is a good idea but then, the people who need the time the most wont get it but....
advanced drivers need lots of time as well to fine tune lines/angles/transitions... just because a car is sideways 80%+ of the time doesnt mean the driver is satisfied with his/her driving. there is always room for improvement.
example, they dont give the kid with a 2.2GPA(novice) more time on the SAT than the kid with a 4.0(advanced) - just cause your slower doesn't mean your entitled to have extra time. you all get all the questions, if you dont get as many done(laps) in the alloted time, get better.
time is the reward for skill. goto more events get better, goto autox- its MUCH cheaper and MUCH more often. learn lines/throttle & braking/cars limits then pay the 100$ and use the track time wisely.
im not trying to put down the beginners but when i try to get friends/family to watch an event and i can only drive about 15/20 min every 3 hours- they dont like to attend.
we have all been down the beginner path. good luck.

just to clarify my comment "i doubt outside of internet forum posting that anyone will do anything"
just about the only one i wasnt talking about is you mr anlet.
you say youre working to make things better. and im sure you are.
i was talking about the people that constantly post "we need to build a track" or whatever

I know I would be willing to work a little to drive cheaper. And maybe not Drivers but also spectators would be willing to work for Ride alongs. I know plenty of those kind!!!

There has to be some others in this state who would be willing. Find them or go get certified yourself and that cuts cost even more.

SOmething needs to be done about this.. And not just the promoters and organizers need to speak up but the whole drifting commmunity drivers, spectators, tracks, organizers, sponsors, shops everyone needs to be writing letters asking questions and demanding better prices.

So what went wrong this weekend at OSW.
1.) Staging the cars on the track may have been a good idea in which
TER-TECH thought it would be easier to find drivers, but my
thought on this is BUY a bull horn and announce its stageing
time, and 2 if you as a driver aren't paying attention or have
someone with you paying attention and you miss a lap thats your
fault and the promoter shall not be concerned with you making
that lap up. Either get with the program and be on time and
where you are supposed to be when you're supposed to be there
or don't drive. You are holding up other people who paid good
money.

Not hey hold the line we have another photographer entering the track. Screw that guy I'd rather driv,e I paid to be there not Him........

Is it cause drivers are taking there sweet time getting to tech, is it cause the organizer was not very organized, or was it really a combination of both. I believe both parties are responsible.. As an organizer you should have tech people and track people. Not both doing the same job. It only takes one person to tech a car. And for the people who took their sweet time getting to tech, WTF... Thanks for wasteing my money. I was the First through Tech, I always try to be cause like I said earlier, only one thing on my mind that day and thats DRiving. Had people gotten there earlier and through tech on time we would have had an extra hour of driving. I believe you should roll through tech then str8 to stageing lane, to drive. I understand every event organizer likes to hold a drivers meeting and explain the day. Well maybe we should skratch that and have something written out the night before and gone over with each driver at tech instead of as a whole this way once again we are not waiting for people. Once you are done with tech you can get str8 to driving instead of waiting for the 2 people who decided they didn't need to show up on time.
HOW MANY LAPS DID YOU GET THRU OUT THE DAY??

People suggest more then one car on the track at time. Thats a good idea we've done hotlapping there and It was awsome. I was probably the weakest link in the advance group and spun in the hot laps numerous time's but it pushed me and by the end I felt I had actually improved cause of the pressure. In that instance I did my best to get my car off the track so I didn't have to make the person behind me stop they could keep sliding past. I think people need to a better job recovering from mistakes so people can continue.
Also it would be nice to split the time up better. Instead of letting the advance go 4 runs each then the novice run 4 runs each you designate time. Like the advanced get the first hour to run then the novice the next hour. No offenense to new comers but they eat track time like its cheerios sprinkled with cocaine.. The advanced would get so many more runs in 1 hour then the novice. SO why should the advanced be penelized. If they are better, then so be it.
Ok I think this is enough ranting for me. My points are valid I don't care who wants to argue with me. Everyone needs to work at this to make it better. Drivers be on time and ready, organizers be organized, and spectators get out there and watch!!!!!!!

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR IDEAS WE'LL TRY TO IMPLIMENT SOME OF THEM.
Rob (Drumfunken),
I think one of the major concerns at OSW in the morning was making absolutely sure the track was dry. As you probably know we found out that a portion of the track was wet the hard way (hitting the wall pretty good).
In future events I'm sure we can have cars on track earlier, but I think it's impossible to forego the drivers meeting just because having everyone in together at once is simpler and brings up good questions.
I'm actually curious how many laps you and other people got if you didn't have any down time. Our goal was to provide more seat time than the average Florida drift event, just in practice runs, so that even if people didn't compete, they would feel they got their money's worth.
And lastly just for everyones knowledge, in the future 15 drivers is not financially feasible for us. We need more people to sign up. From the feedback I heard, the track layout was fun yet challenging and everyone was happy to drive a new track.

I really enjoyed the day, and didn't mean to point out ter-tech but you guys were my last event so its fresh in the mind. I was just pointing out what I saw was wrong or maybe I would do differently and i've seen things like this take place at other events not just drift... you know from my post on FD I was more then satisfied with the event. I believe the picture in my sig was worth the 100 bucks alone...
as far as the number of laps probably around 10-11 runs total. I could be wrong, I was out for awhile trying to get tires changed but not your fault. but to me thats 10 x 2 laps so thats 20 laps. Thats more then reasonable to me But I am a greedy bitch when it comes to seat time. I can't help it. I wanna drift all Day ALL night and All Day again..(24hr Drift event anyone???)
as far as finding me for qualifying - the sound system at OSW blows I'm a professional sound engineer at House of Blues in Orlando I think I can make this call, You can't hear squat. Anyone who's been to drag race there knows that. Thats why you need a BUllhorn(megaphone) Loud enough and Intelligable enough that everyone in the pits can hear you. Kyle at the DG trials EVENT loved his MEga phone and I think everyone can agree you HEARD him and knew when to be where. PLus like I said If Your not there, its not the organizers job to babysit, pay attention to whats going on.. Thats why after the rain I was waiting talking to someone up at the entrance to the track. The guy with the silver s14 went out on the track after the dryer came off and said it was cool and I was just waiting there for the werd. I heard no such announcement. THen someone said you were looking for me I came and found sean and off we went. Had you had a Megaphone at the ter-tech tent I would have heard you.
Just suggestion not criticism
and please schedule another event there soon, get me some flyers that I can hand out in orlando and I promise you a better turn out
