I have been to this track to see about organizing an event there and to get a feel for the 'driftability' of the course.

A good drift layout can absolutely be setup at the Gainesville track, (probably even 2 courses at once) but the track is a bit narrow for my tastes and it's not cheap either, plus there are no spectator stands out there and not really many good places to install any unless they widen the runoff areas.

The track has potential and we will re-assess what can be done if there is enough demand for a new track to drift. In order for the track to invest more time in making the roadcourse more spectator friendly they will probably want some sort of multi-event commitment from an organizer, or the first event will cost like $200 per person.

PS- In my cost analysis for the SpeedWorld event on the 25th I forgot to mention the over $1,000 in cash and prizes that were given or are in the mail for the top three finishers.

just for people with add that wont read all what sean said.
keep prices the same. more seat time.
ter tech barely broke even, and still had an awesome event.

also, even though ter tech might not have made a ton, or any money, the advertising surely will help in the long run.

That was my "guess-imate." Oh, thinks for the fill in on the pricing for setting up a drift event. We now have a general idea of what it cost now. Most of us spectators/drivers dont understand why drift events are expensive. We just need somekind of idea of what we are paying for. The price increase at Ocala from $75 at DDay5 and then increased to $90 at DDay6/7, made us wonder why such a dramatic increase.
Track workers need to be trained, and track owners would trust one of their own at such a event than someone who they have no knowledge of.

By all means, the Gainsville training track does have the potential of being a drifting course, but as it is right now, it doesnt look all that great. Just add some more asphalt, seating grandstand, and a few concrete barriers to protect the spectators is all we need to set on up. I know its not cheap to do it either.
Who gives a shit about grass on a race track, its not golfing.

I thought Gville hates drifting. I remember they hate to put tires on grass.

When your wrist is fixed, we need to go out to drift. I thought didn't drift half year, but I just figured out i have 9-10months of drift blank time. i suck at drift.
