well i talked to jake today and he made me understand that drifting fees are pretty cheap when compared to drag racing on a track time and pricing ratio. Drag races...barely 1 minute, autocrossing...several minutes, drifting...around 1 hr.
But damn, it just seems so much.

This is America.

We're lucky we can do this anywhere. In other countries there are less fucked up reasons to raise the price.

Remember insurance? We're doing something "dangerous" in a country where you can get a million dollars for skinning your knee. Or where anything that hurts a single person is immediately illegal.

Go to a foreign country and try to get money because you fell and hurt yourself at the grocery. Not gonna happen. This is why drifting here is $$$.

Anyhow, I'm a little short on cash so I think I'll go spill coffee on myself

even in jp, people pay 80-150 for practice event. you can run 9-5pm (8pm in july-aug). so i think pricing is fine. the only diff is we share 15-20mins run with 10-15 cars sometimes 20 cars in small (1/2) track.

but you gotta pay to play.
I don't know a single person that drag races regularly , that runs respectable times that doesn't break engines , go through tires like crazy , break transmissions e.t.c. Also considering the engines mods required for something like this, drag racing can get crazy expensive. I've seen people blew holes through engine blocks , break rear ends , synchronizers e.t.c. I guess i was overlooking drifting from a cost perspective, so you guys are right to a extent, still nothing cheap about resleeving engines , forced induction , supporting modifications, slicks e.t.c. All forms of motorsports are pay to play sports.
