just change the oil and down shift while still rolling to a stop, not once stopped. kawi's beat up oil quick and shifting gets notchy. i do mine every 1500 miles or so.

as for car oil, yes some are bad, but rotella syn is fine, i've used it in my 10 since new. cheap and works fine. i've also tried some over priced motorcycle oil just to see if it might shift smoother for longer and it doesn't. it got worse faster, so i gave up and just use whats cheap and works.
